Saturday morning - Limit of geese...

Saturday afternoon - Limit of pheasants...

Sunday morning - 2 shy of a limit of sandhill cranes (and a few bonus geese)...

No doubt we could've got a limit of cranes too, but we had to check out of the motel or be charged for an extra day. We left em still flyin.

Awesome trip in great weather with a great group of guys! Hope y'all can all make the next one! We'll be doing it again next year, so watch for the thread coming soon in the Group Hunts Forum and sign up fast!

Looks like ya got a bunch of Canada's though. Cranes are just good for target practice!

Did ya get the pheasants before or after the geese?

We'll be back again next year, Brandon. It's refreshing to be in the company of professionals. It's always enjoyable, but a real bonus when we get into em like we did this year!! I'll be in touch soon! Thanks again!!

Angie - we're thinkin about booking two or three groups. Think any Diva's would be interested taking some spots?

George - Come with us next year, bro! We could always use another jackhole with a scattergun!! wink

To all involved; I had a great time, and I hope I get to go next time. To those that didn't go; You don't know what you're missin'! I think my favorite part was the pheasant hunting, but the goose and crane hunting wasn't far behind. In fact, our guide really hit a home run on the crane hunt. laugh :p

Were the pheasants pen-raised or native birds? If native, what kind of cover did you hunt? Did you have dogs? That is about as good as I've heard anyone doing in Texas. Surely there are dome good stories coming out that hunt.

All wild & native birds, Gil. Well, as native as any exotic imported bird from China can be anyway.

I've got some stories, but I'm under the weather right now. I'll write a bit when I feel better. Finally got some good antibiotics today!

They were wild birds, Gil. I've hunted pen raised pheasants before and was not impressed. This hunt I really enjoyed, for a large bird they are very fast!!!!!

I would really like to thank Brandon we all enjoyed the hunt!! The guides were great also! I'll be back next year but I still don't like shooting from a prone position!!!

My version of the highlights:

Friday... Fun drive. Pick at Joe often.

Friday night... Brad H. cracks me up. All Margaritas at Chili's SUCK. Margaritas in room later were a bit better. (I have a new blender.) All wonder how Brad D is doing at his GF's in Lubbock. I'm still ill. Very little sleep.

Saturday morning... Awake at 4:00 a.m. It's 19 degrees F and windy. Help set up goose decoys in dark. Get setup and watch sunrise. Birds on the horizon. Closer now. Brandon hollers, "SHOOT EM!!" BANG, BANG, BANGBANGBANG.. BANG..BANGBANG, BANG.....BANG!!! "Thud, Thud, ThudThudThud.. Thud..ThudThud, Thud.....Thud!!!" Much laughter and war whoops. "BIRDS COMIN!! Get down!!" "That's a limit!" Lots of high fives & back slappin. Pics.

Saturday afternoon... Warmer. Windy. Good homemade chili. We separated 10-15 yards apart and followed Bob, the German Shorthair pointer, and Buster, the Black Lab flusher. "Rooster!!" Bang! Dave H. rolls a rooster while still hunting. Brad & Mike are fast. Too fast. Joe busts a good un. All havin a blast. "That's a limit!" Lots of high fives & back slappin. Pics.

Saturday night... I'm ill. Fever. Cough. Long John Silvers sucks as bad as Margaritas at Chili's. Shower. Eat cough drops & sleep.

Sunday morning... Awake at 4:00 a.m. It's 24 degrees F and calm. I've almost lost my voice, but feel better. We help our guide, Scott, set up crane decoys in the dark. The birds start coming before we can get finished & setup. BANG, BANG! Too far. More birds coming. "Get ready!" BANG, BANGBANG! Still too far. Next bird is a bit lower and Brad D's 10 gauge barks. BANG! "Thud!" "YEAH!!!" For the next few hours it's BANG, BANG, BANGBANGBANG.. BANG..BANGBANG, BANG.....BANG!!! "Thud, Thud, ThudThudThud!!!" Cranes make a nice thud when they hit the ground. Another bird flies just out of range as hunters holler, "10 gauge!" Brad D's gun barks as another crane bites the dust. Literally. More laughter and war whoops. More high fives & back slappin. Just two birds shy of another limit, we decide to end it as we have just enough time left to gather our gear, birds, hulls & stuff and head to the motel for c heckout. It was as good of a hunt as could ever be expected.

After sayin our goodbye's, we all headed home. My voice was reduced to a whisper as I proceeded to pick at Joe. He took it all real well as it was all in fun. After a long drive/ride, we finally arrived home.

The end.

Big thanks again to Brandon White and all his guides at Longneck Outfitters. Also, a big thanks goes to Dennis and David at Broken Wing Outfitters. David (Guinn?) a Waco native, was definitely one of the best guides I ever remember hunting with. All the above are 1st class. cool

Those pictures are absolutely awesome. I missed out bigtime. I'd love to get pheasant, Canada goose, and sandhill crane and you, a bunch of you, did it all at once. Wow!!!

Congratulations to all!

Surely that must be the most successful "outfitter" hunt on record. Speaks well for the groups shooting abilities (I think).
I think I"ll arrange to fly to Lubbock next year. But my luck may cause a return to 2004 results.
I really enjoyed the pictures, stories (Scott) and comments.

Although our success was awesome for such a large group, Brandon's previous hunters had similar success stories this season. Come with us next year!
