Here is my finished deer blind in west central Wisconsin.
I made it all out of treated lumber and customized it with 6 Lexan swing up windows.
Finished size is 4 feet wide by 8 feet long by 7 feet tall. I stapled die cut camo netting for the finish.
It's rock steady, plus I used the anchor kit.
Thanks for making such a fine kit.

Its Ready to stand up. This is not no $500 stand. Used lots of Treated 2X2's and plywood. Inside has camo mess curtains and carpet on the floor. Did I mention shelves. Neat little gadgets that hold the windows open. Pull the 3/16 nylon rope to open window and this gadget clamps down on rope. Has a little 1 1/2 inch lever that you push to release rope and close window. Used treated plywood for roof + tin. Added plywood rain barrier above each window. It has one coat of primer and 2 coats of latex. Ought to last many years. Wife can now take the grand-kids.. She's happy.

Scott, attached is a photo of my DeerTexas blind. It's 4x6 with 10' legs and 6, 7x24" plexiglass fold down windows. It's carpeted and has 2 pneumatic pedestal boat seats in flush mounted bases. I shot a 9 point buck out of it opening day so am very happy with the results! Thanks for making such a quality, easy to make kit.

PS Please disregard the date on the photo as I'm better with construction than with technology. This blind was made in November, 2006.

Scott,

Thank You for the invite, I tried to register but was unable to, also tried to login but that didn't work either but I am sending you my picture of the blind I built with the help of the EZ Deer Blind Kit.

I have a one piece rubber roof and rubber flooring with carpet on top of the rubber flooring, windows drop down with hinges, the entire blind is constructed of 3/8s cd plywood, built to withstand the heavy snows and rain which we have here in Wisconsin.
A solid contruction 15 Ft high for anyone to hunt out of and a structure that will last.

Thanks and hope you enjoy the picture as much as I enjoyed my blind this past season.

Here is the blind that my friend and I made using the EZ Deer Blind Kit. Its a 4x6 (big enough for me to lay down in should I choose to do so) with walls constructed of marine plywood, a red oak floor, rubber coated tin roof and custom cut fold down plexiglass windows. The blind sits on treated 10' posts. The ladder is also treated wood. It is sealed and insulated with acousitcal foam in its interior. Additionally its fully carpeted and has two leather pnuematic chairs inside.

On 11/11 I shot a 10 pt buck from my stand. It blows away the other stands the guys have out at the lease.

Scott,

Attached are pictures of the dder blind I made from your kit. I am not sure how to post so I am sending to you via email.

I hunt on a lease in Trinity county and built my blind in September. It is 4'x8' and stands on a 7-1/2' tower. I also used your anchor kit and it is rock solid. The other members on my lease call it "The Rock". I used lexan windows and kevlar reinforced panels mounted on 1/4" plywood roof. I water proofed the floor and roof with Thompsons waterseal. All exteroir wood has 2 coats of drab gereen paint. It is watertight and bug proof. Sprayed expandable foam in all corners and used window seals on every window. It has carpet and plenty of hangers/shelfs for any need. Includes a cabinet and heater box. I claimed a 9 point opening morning and a 10 point last weekend from it. Thanks again for a great blind and an excellent season!

Correction: WE have OUR work cut out for US. The board will decide winners by a poll on Jan 15th. I agree it's gonna be tough. What's amazing to me is that so few are participating. Makes the odds go WAY up for them. Send me your pics, folks! cool

I'm in the portable storage business. I used aluminum siding for the walls and roof, same stuff use on our sheds. I went 14' tall. I know that is higher then recommended.... spent plenty of time on the cross bracing. It's done right and solid as a rock.
Kevin Malone
Editor's note: Our limited height recommendations are published for liability reasons only. 14' is not too high when braced properly as in this example.

Here are the pics from the deer stand I made with your kit. The stand is located in upstate New York. The main construction was done in my backyard. I used pressure treated lumber for the 10 foot legs and supports. The rest was constructed with CDX and 2x2's. The windows fold down and there are peep holes above the main windows. This allows me to still see out when standing up. I then took it apart in sections and transported it to my hunting property. Used my ATV to get move each section from my trailer on the street to my hunting spot about half a mile in the woods. The first morning hunting from the stand I shoot two deer within tens minutes of each other. The best thing about using the stand is the protection from the elements and being consealed.

Thanks, Greg Northrup

Scott,

Here are pictures of the blind made from your EZ Deer Blind kit, it is located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Unfortunately, didn't plan on entering the contest so don't have additional photos showing other views or details. I also tweaked the design a little bit, made the floor plan 6 X 6. Wanted enough room for a second person which is the case during our youth hunt. Legs are 16 ft. but blind handles the wind well thanks to your design for anchoring. Like many of the other blinds in the contest, used mostly treated plywood and lumber for the exterior. Window panels are hinged at the top. Large window panels are opened for bow hunting, small for rifle and muzzle loading. Small window panels also have sliding Plexiglas windows. Having the blind enclosed is nice as we usually need a heater in the blind during muzzle loading.

Although I am very happy with the blind, would do one thing differently. Even with carpeting on the floor, floor tended to squeak especially during very cold weather. I solved the problem with the additional of a lot more screws in the floor. If I had to do it over again, would have glued and screwed the floor to the frame. Other than that, I am very happy with your EZ Deer Blind Kit!

Editor's note: 2 people have often hunted out of my 4x6 comfortably, but we have incorporated a new "glue" step for the floor section in the building plans. Thank you for your comments.

These stands look great and very functional - Great Job Guys!

Little advice to anyone building a stand, I didn't use a kit building mine this year and when I got done, had spent about $1000 and spent over 40 hours plus and some of it required my buddy to help about 20 hours and too boot when I went to use it, had several problems mainly window problems (too heavy, too large) and now I have to redo windows.

Also I hunt a lot by myself and I made it 8x8 18 ft tall with 8ft walls - WAY TOO BIG - can't hunt from it unless I hunt with someone, can only watch maybe 180 degree area by myself, several times deer walked in and right past the stand before I even seen them. But the loveseat makes it great for naps....HAHA

I will definitly use a kit next this year for my next stand or condo as my wife and her friends call it.
