Well, it was near perfect, Don. As you may know, I went out there a week early to set up pop-up blinds at waterholes. We used Double Bull blinds exclusively. (If anyone wants a Double Bull blind, compare with me before you buy!)
Anyway, Johnny Kemp of Post, Texas was the winner of the Texas State Rifle Association recruitment contest. He won a free trip and killed a beautiful pronghorn with his .270 in the 14" range.
JJ Miller of West Virginia, the only other gun hunter, passed on several as he was looking for something special. He also left a day early as he had some personal business to attend. He was the only one who didn't kill anything, but he left happy and satisfied.
The Nuge killed a good speed goat at 35 yards with his bow. The lope was walkin from left to right when Ted's Magnus Stinger stung him. The critter dropped in his tracks. Awesome footage! His videographer, Jenny Olsen of Michigan, killed her first antelope with a bow from the same pop-up blind a little later the same day.
Carl Pallini from PA put on an awesome stalk on his antelope from about 1/4 mile away. He killed his with an amazing 60 yard bow shot. Mason Sanders of Irving killed a very nice pronghorn at a waterhole blind from about 20 yards.
Craig Kirkpatrick didn't even see an antelope until the last day. That's when he put a 55 yard bow shot on the biggest antelope of the trip! That is one handsome buck!
Finally, I save my friend George Major Jr's buck for last. George killed his buck with a 16 yard shot from his new Double Bull Matrix blind. Here is a
video clip of the kill shot with slow mo at the end. George is from San Antonio.
I'll post some pics when I get a chance. Be sure to watch for the footage on Ted Nugent's Spirit of the Wild next season on The Outdoor Channel!! Exciting stuff!! We'll be booking an identical hunt real soon for next year, so be ready!
